Bo Vang in Orange County

Pho King reader Richard Guelich highly recommends Bo Vang in Lake Forest, CA (23764 Mercury Rd. at Rockfield) as the best pho in south Orange County. Richard writes that "the wonderful family running the place are helpful and are happy to make substitutions and describe their daily specials. In addition to the 11 pho soups on the menu, there are 5 Saigon style noodle soups. They will also alter dishes for children."

I know it's been a while since you've heard from the Cong Khi but lo and behold here I am! With the commander occupied on other missions it was assigned to me the undertaking of reconnaisance in to the unknown territory of lil Saigon. Affectionately called that because it's south of our usual stomp up in Mira Mesa (closer to Hanoi).

Pho in Denver?

Pho fan and Pho-King reader Alfred (of Chipotle's Special Ops division - you know, the guys who rappel from black helicopters at night and leave tasty burritos on your nightstand while you're sleeping) is in Denver and misses the many good pho choices of his previous home, Seattle. Can anyone help him out with some suggestions of where to go for good pho in Denver?

Maybe We Have to Move Back

So according to the Vietnamese woman that was doing my mani-pedi today, there is no good pho to be had in Portland.  Or, more accurately, she said: "There is no restaurant that has good pho here,"  "I wouldn't eat pho in any restaurant in Portland," and finally, "It's all Americanized here. If you want authentic pho, go back to San Francisco."  The woman working next to her nodded her head in affirmation the whole time her colleague was talking.
