Saveur!

120dec_04_cover_largeThis month's Saveur magazine gave us a nice little writeup - if you're seeing us for the first time as a result of that, please drop us a line and tell me about your favorite pho joints, or I can give you a posting account and you can tell us a bit about the restaurants in your town - and what you've discovered on your travels - yourself!

SF Gate does pho

perfecto phở

pho-bo-trangOver at royby.com, you can read about one person's attempt (or rather, walk around the corner - in Saigon, you never seem to have to go any further than that!) to find the world's most perfect phở.

Phở Cuong in Tacoma

pho-cuong-webOur friend Xortch, of Seattle WA, offers this short but sweet review of the excellent Phở Cuong in Tacoma.

Viet World Kitchen & the Evolution of Phở

pho-bowlAndrea Nguyen, over at the wonderful Viet World Kitchen, has written a wonderful article for the San Jose Mercury News' Food & Wine section on the evolution - or Americanization - of phở.

VWK, the most complete Internet source on Vietnamese cuisine here in the US, has a whole lot of other great pieces on our favorite food (and a whole clearinghouse section on Viet food in newspapers and magazines), including this wonderful booklet by Sofitel Hanoi chef Didier Corlou.
And if you're cooking Viet cuisine yourself, don't miss her Mama Says section, with great cooking advice from Andrea's experienced cook mom.

All hail the King of Phở!

All hail the King!

pho at noodle pie

Noodle Pie, our spiritual sibling in pho-love, has a great photo-essay on food in Saigon.

Pho Hoa

pho-hoaJake over at 8bitjoystick has a good review of one of the newest instances of the Pho Hoa phenomenon in his own neighborhood. There are several Pho Hoa locations in Sacramento, where I live, and all are quite good, but ignore Jake's suggetion to bypass the tendon - we all know that rare flank / brisket / tendon with extra wonton and egg yolk and ridiculous amounts of Sriracha is the way to go.

Il Forno does Pho

Our friends at the always entertaining Il Forno love the perfect food as well.
